If your business plans to send SMS or MMS messages in the United States or Puerto Rico using Talkdesk Express, A2P 10DLC registration is a must. This process ensures your messages get delivered reliably and compliantly - and helps you avoid carrier blocks that can disrupt communication with your customers.

What is A2P 10DLC Registration?

A2P (Application-to-Person) 10DLC is a carrier-regulated system in the U.S. that governs how businesses send messages to people using local 10-digit numbers. It provides greater transparency and trust in the messaging ecosystem by requiring:

  1. Brand Registration: Who is sending the message.

  2. Campaign Registration: What type of messages are being sent.

What You Need to Do

To activate SMS messaging on your Express number(s), follow these steps to get A2P registered:

1. Download the Registration Form

Get the required spreadsheet here: A2P Business Profile and Campaigns.xlsx (this link leads to the same resource used for all Talkdesk editions.)

2. Complete the Required Details

Fill in the spreadsheet with:

  • Your company’s legal details

  • Contact info

  • Description of how your business will use SMS (e.g., appointment reminders, order updates, support messages, etc.)

    1. Make sure to include the way you make available the Opt-in and Opt-out options for users.

3. Submit Your Request

Email the completed form to [email protected] with a brief note requesting A2P registration for your Express account.

Once received, a Community Manager will review your submission and open a Support ticket with Talkdesk Support on your behalf. This ensures your A2P registration request is formally entered into our system and tracked through to completion.

4. Wait for Confirmation

Once we've submitted your completed A2P registration form, a Talkdesk Support ticket will be opened on your behalf. You'll receive an email confirmation with the ticket ID, signaling that the process has officially started.

From that point forward, you’ll work directly with the Talkdesk Support team through that ticket to:

  • Address any follow-up questions

  • Provide additional details, if needed

  • Track the status of your brand and campaign approval

  • Be notified once your registration is fully processed

Please note that carrier approval timelines can vary - especially depending on campaign type and completeness of information submitted - so it’s important to monitor the email associated with your Express account for any updates from the Talkdesk Support team.
